Life Lately: Chaos, Coffee & Kids on the Go

So much has happened since my last post. Honestly, I feel like I’ve been swallowed whole by harvest, homemaking, and kids’ extracurriculars. The long weekend came and went in a blur, and before I could blink, we were full throttle into another week of school runs and back-and-forth trips to Athabasca for Jiu Jitsu and dance.

Tiny but Mighty

Lenoxx had her very first Jiu Jitsu class and it was an epic success! She was nervous walking in, but her instructor made her feel so welcome. By the end of class, she was catching on quickly and even used me as her practice dummy later to show grandma and dad. (Let’s just say she’s tiny but mighty—and I might have a few bruises to prove it.)

Cyrus vs. the Needles

Meanwhile, my sweet baby Cyrus had to endure his immunizations this week. Let me tell you, he did not approve. The car ride home and even a second one later in the day were required to get him calmed down. Poor little guy. But even though it broke my heart, I’m grateful knowing my kids are protected. I know vaccines spark debate, but in our house it’s simple: our kids, our choice. Sorry not sorry.

Racing the Clock

Speaking of kids’ activities, Lenoxx had me hustling back to Athabasca for dance class too. Of course, I missed the memo that the school extended the dismissal bell by nine minutes. So there I was, channeling my inner NASCAR driver to get her to dance on time. We rolled in with five minutes to spare—sweaty palms and all.

Meals, Fields, and Family Time

This week has been a juggling act of meal planning, cooking ahead of school pickup so the kids can grab something decent before activities, dropping off suppers in the field, and making sure no one starves while harvest is in full swing. I mostly see my husband in the mornings, and family dinners now look like lawn chairs, paper plates, and combines in the background.

Multitasking at its finest…making dinner and grinding coffee so I’m not waking up anyone at 6am!

Chaotic? Absolutely. Exhausting? For sure. But at the end of the day, I wouldn’t trade this caffeine

-fueled, beautiful mess of a life for anything.
