Don't Let Your Fire Go Out

When I was younger, my mom would yell at me to stop doing something stupid or to get moving on what I was supposed to be doing. Her favorite line? “Just wait until you have kids.”

She wasn’t wrong.
I was a little shit who got into everything, and now… karma has delivered. My kids are feral, sassy, and full of attitude. The eye rolls, the tantrums, the sass—it’s like arguing with a mini version of myself every single day.
They’ve got fire in their souls. The same fire I carry in mine. And when those fires collide? Well… let’s just say it’s not pretty.

But here’s the thing: a few short years ago, my own fire almost burned out.
I had a bakery business that looked successful from the outside but left me drained inside. I cried delivering cakes, fought with Michael, and yelled at the kids. Perfectionism ate me alive, and in chasing it, I missed out on my family. Shutting it down was a relief—but it also left me empty.

Then, a new opportunity lit me back up. A job I had always dreamed of opened at our local mechanic shop, and I jumped at it. Suddenly, I had purpose again—something beyond motherhood. My spark returned, and so did my happiness.
And that’s what I want my kids (and maybe you, too) to know:
✨ Never let your fire go out.
✨ If you want something—go for it, and work hard for it.
✨ Don’t fear the unknown—it just might be the best thing you’ll ever experience.
✨ You’re going to make mistakes, but you’ll learn from them.
✨ When you fall, pick yourself back up, dust off your crown, and put it back on your head.

Be proud of who you are. Protect your fire. And don’t ever let anyone dim it.
Because that fire inside of you? That’s your power.
