Last night I was at my breaking point…
➡️ Enter husband to save me from losing my marbles.
Cyrus has a bit of a cold, is teething, and was downright miserable. During the day he was my happy little boy, but when bedtime rolled around… cue the 8-month-old meltdown.
Everything I tried to do to settle him didn’t work. The screaming was ear-piercing and he was beyond tired. Being stuffed up, teething pain, and overtired was the perfect recipe for disaster.
I was overwhelmed and ready to break.
Michael knew it.
He stepped in and rescued me before I completely snapped a crayon.
Let’s be clear though — even though I was overwhelmed and angry, I would never do anything to hurt myself or my children. That’s not who I am. But I did scream into a pillow… and honestly, it helped.
Michael and I battled with Cyrus for about two hours before he finally fell asleep on Michael’s shoulder. We were relieved.
I crawled into bed hoping to get at least an hour before he woke up again. When he did, Michael brought him to me for a quick nursing session and he fell back asleep without a fuss. I think we got a few winks in before he woke up miserable again, but by then Michael had come to bed and his calm energy helped settle everything.
Like always, I’m incredibly grateful for that man. I would be an utter mess without him.
And to the moms who feel like they’re hanging on by their last shred of patience… don’t give up.
Momming is effing hard.
Teething. Baby colds. Sleepless nights. Overtired babies. It can break even the strongest moms.
But you will get through it. I promise.
Take a breath.
Scream into a pillow if you need to.
Then go back to being the incredibly amazing mom you are.
You are not alone. 🤍
