When Life Feels Overwhelming: Small Wins in a Busy Farm Mom Season

April showed up and I swear I didn’t even see it coming. The last half of March had me so overwhelmed and busy that my brain basically just shut down. I couldn’t even think of anything to write about… and honestly, I still don’t really know what I’m talking about—but here we are anyway.

Just talking. Because that’s all I’ve got right now.

The kids are on the last stretch of spring break and it’s been pretty low key. I had big plans to “spring clean” with them home… but let’s be real—how exactly am I supposed to wash walls and baseboards with tiny tornadoes trailing behind me undoing everything?

Instead, I’ve been plugging away at small areas over the last few weeks, and honestly… that’s working way better for me. One space at a time. I cleaned, purged, and rearranged the girls’ room in a day, and they were SO excited when they saw it. And somehow—miracle of miracles—they’ve actually been keeping it clean.

I tackled mountains of laundry (that I’m convinced multiply overnight), piles of toys, and our living room is… wait for it… actually clean. The porch is no longer the household dumping ground, and next on my hit list is the master bathroom.

Apparently this is the era of my life where I take small steps to accomplish big things—and I’m finally okay with that.

Now let’s talk about Cyrus.

If you’ve been following along, you know the formula situation has been… a journey. A long, exhausting, sanity-testing journey. But we FINALLY found one he will drink.

Goat’s milk formula.

Of course it is. Because why would anything be easy?

I never would have guessed that would be the winner, but here we are. Now we just need to work on him taking a bottle from someone who isn’t me… because this whole “mom is the only acceptable human” situation is really interfering with my I need a break before I lose my mind plan.

But hey—every bottle he takes is a small win, and I will take every single one.

We’ve got a few more days of the kids being home, climbing all over me, and saying “mom” approximately one billion times a day before they go back to school. And while I am very much looking forward to getting back into routine… I will admit—it’s been nice not packing lunches or telling them to get ready five times every morning.

Silver linings.

Oh—and it’s tax season.

So if you need me next week, I will be buried under a mountain of receipts, whispering sweet nothings to my calculator while trying to make farm bookkeeping make sense.

Tis the season.

Happy Easter, everyone 🐣
